The Kalalau Trail along the Na Pali Coast on Kauai's North shore is one of the most iconic adventures, offering dramatic ocean views, lush valleys, and towering cliffs. Many hikers enjoy the first two miles to Hanakapiai Beach- a beautiful and rewarding experience without needing a permit. The trail can be muddy, rocky, and steep in places, but it's well worth the effort! Wear sturdy shoes, bring a lot of water, and take your time. For those wanting a bigger challenge, you can continue another two miles inland to Hanakapiai Falls, where a stunning 300-foot waterfall awaits.

- 2-mile hike to Hanakapiai Beach

- 4-mile hike to Hanakapiai Falls

- Full 11-mile trail to Kalalau Beach (camping required)

If interested, access to the trailhead requires a reservation on the shuttle. You can access it here 30 days in advance: https://gohaena.com/ . It is recommended you reserve the shuttle pass ASAP as they sell out.
